New School Building
Work on the re-development of Longdean School under the Priority School Building Programme is progressing very well and we remain on course for delivery of the new school by 2016. The Education Funding Agency (EFA), who are procuring this work on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE), have recently short-listed three bidders to proceed to the next stage of the procurement process. This followed a strong response from the market to bid for the scheme, which includes six other secondary schools in Herts, Luton and Reading. The three bidders invited to continue to the next stage are:
- Morgan Sindall
The next key milestone will see the selected bidder chosen, which we expect to happen by 7th March 2014. Work is anticipated to commence on the new school building late in 2014. We will continue to keep you updated on progress.
Are you interested in supporting the school?
If the answer is yes, you might be interested in joining the Longdean School Association (LSA), a group of parents who come up with exciting events that parents, students, staff and local people can enjoy and which are used to raise funds for specific projects/items from which students benefit. From time to time, the parents are also asked for their views on specific aspects of school and so help to plan and evaluate the work that the school does to support all students. If you would like to join the group or want to find out more please contact the school on 01442 217277 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
