Works are progressing well with the main structural steel frame now complete and on programme to have the blockwork, window fixing and roofing complete to the North Block by the end of January.  We have commenced internal wall construction and installation of MEP services.  External works are also progressing in line with the programme with the storm water and foul water drainage complete around the main building.  Following removal of the external scaffolding to the North block we will start the external hard landscaping.

    Friday 11 December 2015

The first steel work began on Monday 20 July 2015. This is being built up in sections (four floors high) and will work its way along the length of the new building.

The four floor section (with a lower ground floor) was constructed first, followed by the rest of the wing. The construction of the second wing (to the left of the image below) started at the end of September.

Brickwork is now gaining momentum on the east wing along with the installation of window frames and `topping-out' (weather-proofing of the roof).

Congratulations to our Interserve team who were announced as winners of the coveted BIM Award for work that they have been doing with us since an early stage of new buiding development. The BIM (Buildings Information Management) system is a computerized 3-D modelling system which contains every aspect and component that comprises the new building. This model was used to create the early 3-D walkthrough (available for you you to view using the appropriate link) and has been extremely useful in enabling us to visualize the layout, scale and operation of the new building.

Look out for new walkthroughs in the autumn term.
