The impact of Longdean’s Mathematics & Computing status can be seen across and beyond the school. Many whole-class suites are available for use by all Study centre with 70 computers. and also have the use of their own suite. The impact on student learning is acknowledged by OFSTED, where “The use of is a cross-curricular strength” and “ is used well.” A rich experience of and across the school has helped every department to raise attainment and support progress. The school delivers a variety of courses.
The impact of the department is felt across the school through numeracy work, financial literacy, and a variety of qualifications. OFSTED recognised that “the specialist subjects within and have performed very well at all levels.”
Longdean staff and students work with a number of primary and secondary partner schools and businesses, sharing the whole school’s expertise, as well as and Computing, from primary master classes through to community classes and training for teachers. OFSTED shared how Longdean “provides family learning programmes and community access, including information and communication technology classes” and how “the specialism has also contributed to the personal development of the students and by supporting adults in adult learning classes. The applied diplomas in have further enabled students to gain confidence and contribute to the wider community.”
